Tata Motors India has unveiled the upcoming Punch EV, set for an official launch in the coming weeks. The vehicle will come in two versions: Punch.ev and Punch.ev Long Range.
Tata Motors disclosed that the Punch EV will be built upon its new EV architecture, known as the Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle (ACTI.EV). This innovative architecture is crafted to enhance range and efficiency, comprising four distinct layers - powertrain, chassis, electrical, and cloud architecture.
Regarding the powertrain, the Punch EV offers two battery pack options - Medium Range and Long Range. The former requires a 3.3kW charger, while the latter supports a 7.2kW DC fast charger. The Punch EV is claimed to have a minimum range of up to 300km on a fully charged battery.
In terms of features, the Punch EV boasts a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree surround-view camera, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Harman. It also includes an air purifier, single-pane sunroof, cruise control, wireless mobile connectivity, and six airbags as standard in all variants.
Tata Motors also revealed that the acti.ev architecture will be utilized for over five products in the next 18 months, indicating that several upcoming Tata EVs and SUVs, such as the Curvv EV, Sierra EV, and Harrier EV, may share the same architecture
The Punch EV will be offered in five variants: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+.
